After weeks without human contact it is normal to experience psychological discomfort. Research indicates symptoms may be partly alleviated by adopting a pet, or anthropomorphizing an inanimate object.

Moonpool (Subnautica) (3)

The Moonpool is a Seabase module which is constructed with the Habitat Builder. It functions as a dock and charging station for a Seamoth or Prawn Suit and is the only room where the Vehicle Upgrade Console can be placed. It must be placed below water to be useful.

The Moonpool can dock one vehicle at a time, and is used by approaching the underside of the structure. Upon entering the access area, robotic arms will reach down and grab the vehicle out of the water, securing it for charging while a short animation plays of Ryley getting out of the vehicle. From here the player can access the vehicle's upgrade slots and any cargo storage, repair the vehicle, or re-enter the vehicle upon which it is automatically released back into the water. They can also access a Prawn Suit's shoulder-mounted Power Cells, though they will have to jump into the water to access the Power Cell of a Seamoth.

To unlock the Moonpool Blueprint, the player must scan two of its Fragments. These can be found in Wrecks or the Mushroom Forest.

The Seabase that the Moonpool is attached to must have power (except in Creative Mode) in order to dock vehicles. It can, however, release vehicles without power. Docked vehicles will be charged from the base's Energy, restoring an equivalent amount of Energy to the vehicle's Power Cells. The rate of charging at a Moonpool is much faster than if one were to use a Power Cell Charger: this means that docking a Prawn Suit and swapping out its two Power Cells (which the player still has full access to) is superior to building a Power Cell Charger. To reliably charge a vehicle, one Moonpool requires at least 150 Energy, equal to two Solar Panels.

It is recommended to have an appropriate amount of space between the bottom entrance of the Moonpool and the sea floor. It should ideally be built far enough off the seafloor that a Seamoth will not hit the ground when it is deployed, but close enough that a Prawn Suit can easily reach the entrance with its thrusters. As one cannot rotate the Moonpool with the builder, the player will have to physically position themself so that the building 'faces' the direction they want it to. The 'rear' of the building is where the rotating antenna is located on the roof: the 'front' of the building dictates the direction a vehicle will face when undocking.

The Moonpool also allows the player to access their base from the water via two Ladders on either end of the bottom entrance. This allows the player to freely exit and enter the Seabase outside their vehicle without needing to use a Hatch. If a moonpool is located next to another moonpool, a double connection is possible.

With full acceleration, a Seaglide can jump into the moonpool without using the ladders.

If the roof is not being used for anything else (particularly Solar Panels in shallower water), there is enough flat space to place Exterior Growbeds on it.

Data Bank Entry[]

Moonpool (Subnautica) (13)

The moonpool is an essential module for long-term exploration. Its primary function is as a dry dock for small vehicles such as the Seamoth and Prawn suit.

The large central chamber contains a pressurized pool which provides ready access to the surrounding waters, and comes as standard with equipment for raising and recharging a vehicle.

When outfitted with a vehicle modification station the moonpool can be used to build and equip vehicle upgrades.

Bugs[]

  • While a powered base is flooded there is an area at the top of the moonpool that contains oxygen. In addition, by parking a seamoth in the flooded base and swimming to a certain spot near the top-right it is possible to stand on the seamoth and get oxygen.
  • When exiting a seabase through the ladders on the sides of a moonpool, the habitat will occasionally say "Welcome aboard captain".

FAQs

Where do I find Moonpool fragments in Subnautica? ›

Can cyclops fit in the moonpool? ›

While that would be pretty cool, a moon pool wouldn't really work for a cyclops since there's no top access. A better solution would be a docking cradle that you build on top of your base that the cyclops would sit on allowing you to exit through the chin hatch into your base.

Where are the docking module Fragments in Subnautica? ›

Along the route to the Mercury II wreck, you'll cross the Purple Vents. In this biome you'll need to look for the caverns and drop-offs that allow you to descend in your Seatruck to find the Docking Module fragments in the Deep Purple Vents.

Can you connect a Floating Air Pump to a base in Subnautica? ›

Assign a Pipe to an Equip slot and equip. Connect to the Floating Air Pump. The Pipe will be shown at the end of the first Pipe. The Base-attached Air Pump can be placed on a Seabase to pump oxygen through Pipes without having to place Pipes at/from the water surface.

How do you connect two rooms on top of each other in Subnautica? ›

Place the first room, the second room goes on top of the first, BUT, when you position room 2's ghost view, you must move it all the way down, until it's legs disappear into the room below it. It sort of looks wrong, but that's how it rolls.

Does Moonpool charge Seamoth? ›

The slot for the power cell is underneath the seamoth. You can take the empty one off and replace with a new one until you find blueprints for the charger. When you get to build a Moonpool for your base, you can also dock your seamoth there and it will charge automatically.

How do you activate moon water? ›

Engaging in a moon water ritual involves collecting water in a dedicated vessel, infusing the water with a positive intention, and then letting the water charge overnight under the light of a full moon.

Why are moonpools called moonpools? ›

It was named moon-pool because on calm nights the water under a rig could reflect the moonlight and give the impression of a calm swimming pool.

Is the planet in Subnautica a moon? ›

Where can I find Fragments in Subnautica? ›

Many fragments can be found littering the sea floor of various Biomes. Fragment spawns are semi-randomised, meaning that they have defined spawning areas but can spawn randomly within that area. This means that fragments will be found in different places in each save. Sea Monkey Nests also contain certain fragments.

Where are the MVB Fragments in Subnautica? ›

MVB fragments are scattered in small crates all over the Kelp Forests. They can also be found here and there in the Grassy Plateaus, especially around large wrecks.

Where do you find bed Fragments in Subnautica? ›

Like with the beds, players will first need to find scannable fragments of the Habitat Builder to understand how to build it. Fragments can be found in numerous places, including Delta Station, Twisty Bridges, Outpost Zero, Koppa Mining Site, and Tech Sites.
